Tangled in Hair

This poem was not previously published. This blog article is written intentionally with poor grammar and references.

As I return to the city I was homeless in, where we filmed the documentary piece for Global’s 16×9 Brotherhood of Hate.

I am reminded of where I have been, what I have seen, and what I have done in the past.

I remember the security I felt in a Scarved Embrace when recalling the realities of God is Dead. I recall that my Letter to Matthew was inspired by the same aspect of myself that allowed my Mirrored Child to come forth. As I step forth in this city I am Bleeding Tears Pores Sting thick while battling the truth about how Gossip is Personal. Blue Life brings me to My Daughter Loves to Joke in a way that makes Totalitarians Scurry. I have Prism Tears remembering She Danced with Ancients Fade.

She was As Real As I, but she stays clad in the Iron Forest where she recalls that the Minus the One on a Cryptic Night. I am left fraught with What to do with a small fox who carries an albatross. i hope to tear down Cold Brick Walls, which cannot be achieved without Existential Liberation from Emotional Rape. I feel Stiff as the Beat and Rape and Pound sows Rape’s Seed deep in my work, as Await(s), Shethe Bee.

My heart is heavy and my hair is tangled.

Moving From Hate to Hope

This piece is written by feminist activist Danielle Paradis. She was assisting Chevi Rabbit today, who had organized From Hate to Hope rally. After Chevi suffered the trauma of a hate crime he organized two consecutive years of a successful and necessary event. I was honoured to be a part of this walk.

The man who embraced me was my brothers: former Chief Jerry Goodswimmer and Gary Moostoos.

Reminiscent Bee Poem

I have always dreamed of having a loving relationship; for years I have been dreaming of raising Bees.

This piece is one of several included within a 30 page manuscript for promising emerging writers competition I entered with the UNBC Art Council, which I was awarded a second place award. There will be a reading and presentation for this award in September 2013.

Ekphrasis at the Groop Gallery: Part II of IV

This poem was written with the inspiration from Chrystal Desharmais’s Painting “The Healer” which was exhibited at the Groop Gallery. My writing mentor said that this painting reminded him of Goya‘s work. I listened to his passionate description of Goya’s work and the stories that go with his paintings. I realized that morning while me and my mentor were talking that art can have a deep profound connectivity. I reflected on how honoured I am to be asked by Al Rempel to participate in this type of event.

Ekphrasis at the Groop Gallery: Part I of IV

I was asked to participate as a local writer from one of the more prominent local writers (poet) in Prince George, Al Rempel. Al did a lot of work to set up this art exhibit project with Melanie from the Groop Art Gallery in Prince George, BC. The event consisted of visual art work from a variety of local artists who work with several mediums that included sculptures, paintings, and photographs. Then the writers came in and offered a poem for a piece from the exhibit. I wrote four pieces.

I arrived late to the opening of the event because my friend was having motorcycle issues. I got to the art gallery 45 minutes late smelling of gas, oil, and grease. A month later at the exhibits closing I was unable to attend as I was preparing to write the LSAT in another city. Al generously offered to read my pieces for me. I will post these pieces as a four part series with the name of each painting and the artists’ name. I will not be posting pictures of the pieces as I do not have permission. If I get permission I will update these posts.

Rape’s Seed

This poem is currently unpublished.

Every time I drive through Alberta I am reminded of my childhood, fields of of yellow canola (rape seed). Memories of witnessing sexual violence.

Beat and Rape and Pound

This poem is currently unpublished. I have read it at the Men Resisting Violence Against Women 2012 reading at UNBC hosted by Dr. Si Transken.

You will find a longer track because I take you through the tempos of this memory from my childhood.
